Undercover armor flex f1501/3/2024 ![]() ![]() The Armor Flex is backed by a five-year warranty. When you need to open the cover, just pull the string latch located on either side of the bed. Slam latches located on either side of the bed automatically lock the cover in place when shut. While many tonneau covers require you to shut the tailgate and the cover in that order for maximum weather protection, the Armor Flex uses a dual-action tailgate seal, which allows the cover to be shut regardless of the tailgate's position. You can safely drive your truck with the cover in this position. Once installed, the cover can be opened all the way up to your bulkhead and held in place by support struts for full access to your truck bed. Installing the UnderCover Armor Flex is easy: just use a wrench and socket to bolt the rail clamps to your bed. Further water protection is provided by channels built into the tonneau cover rails, which channel water into drain tubes and out of your bed. This weather-resistant material repels water and keeps your cargo dry. To protect your gear from rain, snow, and other elements, the Armor Flex is equipped with EPDM rubber seals and hinges. Or could have used something more like a sliding bar instead of the pull cable release.Īt the end of the day, I'm very happy with the quality and fit of the AX22030 on my 2018 even though it's not sanctioned by the manufacturer. Could have put a longer drop lip under the cover between the tailgate and pull cable, to at least make it a bit harder to fish. Wouldn't take much to design away this issue. (and as another post above mentions, maybe the 2021+ have a fraction of an inch difference in the bed side width and that's a difference between the Undercover rail models pre/post 2021 beds.) But in my case everything still seems ok, I could probably add a very thin rubber seal between the cover rail and the box edge to shrink the width a touch if needed, but currently that doesn't seem necessary.Īlso the design of the latch pull cable and how it loosely hangs down probably makes it quite easy to "fish" it with a coat hanger between the cover and tail gate. From a security standpoint that might be a bit of a weakness. I also noticed that if you don't do a good job centering the cover, you can end up with the latch on 1 side barely catching the rail lip. Maybe that's by design though so you can lift the cover rail a bit if needed to make the latches catch (as per the instruction sheet notes). The AX22030 is what they use for all their installs. Reached out to the store and they said its fine to have the AX22030 on the 2018, believe they said anything 2015 up to current 2023 has the exact same bed dimensions or something like that. They suggested contacting the store to resolve it. Tried to get more specifics about the rail differences but they didn't really have an answer other than if I use the 2021+ rails on the 2018 it might cause the cover to sit too high and not seal properly. I asked the differences between the models and they said the bed-cover rails are slightly different, everything else is the same. Reached out to the manufacturer, they said it may not fit and hasn't been tested on anything older than 2021. ![]() The local/authorized store sold me an AX22030 for it and I didn't realize that was the wrong model until after I installed it. Thought I'd add my experience should someone else need a datapoint. but it's about the only thing I found when searching the difference between AX22020 and AX22030.
